The Apps I Actually Use to Book Business Class
Not a list of 20 apps you’ll never open. These are the tools I rely on daily to find lie-flat seats for a fraction of the cash price.
Most people see business class fares at $3,000, $5,000, sometimes $8,000+ and assume it’s reserved for people with expense accounts or trust funds. I get it. If you’re paying cash, those numbers are real. But I haven’t paid cash for a business class flight in years, and I fly up front more often than most people fly at all.
The difference isn’t income. It’s having the right combination of apps to find award availability that most travelers don’t know exists, time your transfers to stack bonuses, and book lie-flat seats for pennies on the dollar. Here’s what actually works.
Deal Alert Services
Award availability is unpredictable. Airlines release premium cabin seats on no particular schedule, and when they do, those seats vanish fast. You could check every day and miss something incredible, or you could let a deal alert service do the monitoring for you.
Not all deal alerts are created equal. The ones worth paying for don’t just scrape availability and blast a notification. The best ones tell you how to book: which points to use, where to transfer from, what bonuses are active, and step-by-step instructions so you’re not left Googling while the seat disappears.
When evaluating any deal alert service, ask: Are deals human-verified or auto-scraped? Do alerts include transfer instructions or just the deal? Is the focus on business and first class, or mostly economy with the occasional premium cabin thrown in?
Award Search Tools
Having points is one thing. Finding the award availability to use them is the actual game. Airlines don’t make it easy, and searching one airline at a time across dozens of routes would take hours. That’s where dedicated search tools come in.

Transfer Bonus Trackers
This one is underrated, and it’s where a lot of the real value hides. Chase, Amex, and Capital One regularly run transfer bonuses to their airline and hotel partners. If you wait for a 30% bonus, you get 30% more points for free. On a 100,000-point transfer, that’s 30,000 extra points you didn’t have to earn.
The problem is these bonuses pop up and disappear without fanfare. If you’re not tracking them, you’ll miss them. Timing your transfers around bonuses is one of the easiest ways to stretch your points. A 20-40% bonus is the equivalent of earning tens of thousands of extra points for doing nothing except waiting for the right moment. This is one of the first things I teach new members.
Shopping Portals
Shopping portals are one of the most passive ways to earn extra points, and most people still don’t use them. Before you buy something online, you click through a portal and earn bonus points or cash back on top of whatever your credit card gives you. It takes about five seconds.
Use a shopping portal and the right credit card for that category of spend. If you’re buying electronics through Rakuten at 5% back with a card earning 2x on online shopping, you’re earning on two layers simultaneously. It adds up faster than you’d think. Credit Card Management
If you carry more than two or three credit cards, you’ve experienced the mental gymnastics of remembering which card earns the most at groceries versus restaurants versus gas versus online. Multiply that by rotating quarterly categories, limited-time Amex Offers, and store-specific bonuses, and it gets complicated fast.
