Bilt’s CEO, Ankur Jain, just sent this update to Bilt members. After weeks of confusion over Bilt Cash and all of the new updates coming with Bilt 2.0, we’re finally starting to get some clarity on the program, and what Bilt Cash can actually be used for.

The TL;DR: Starting February 1st, Bilt Cash can be redeemed for over $4,500 in credits annually across dining, travel, fitness, and more. And you’re earning this alongside Bilt Points, not instead of them.

First, let’s clear up what Bilt Cash actually is:

For ALL members:

  • You automatically earn $50 in Bilt Cash for every 25,000 Bilt Points you earn toward status
  • This is earned in addition to your regular points, not replacing them
  • You earn points the same way you always have: on rent, housing, and neighborhood spend through any payment method (bank account, Venmo, debit card, credit card, or Bilt Card)

For Bilt cardholders:

  • You get annual Bilt Cash upon activation just for getting the card
  • You can choose to earn 4% back in Bilt Cash on everyday spend (in addition to your points)
  • OR if you only care about housing rewards, you can opt for tiered points on rent/mortgage instead (up to 1.25X) and skip the 4% Bilt Cash

The key here: Bilt Cash gives you dollar-for-dollar value through their partner network, which they say is “far richer and more tangible than points alone.”

Now, what can you actually redeem Bilt Cash for?

Here’s where I’ll ask you to buckle up, because if you thought the new rewards program was already complicated, here’s a lot more information to wrap your brain around.

DINING & GROCERIES:

  • $120/year for delivery ($10/month via GrubHub for restaurant or grocery delivery, starts 3/1)
  • $60/year for Bilt 15-minute delivery ($5/month for groceries, alcohol, essentials via Gopuff)
  • $100/year for Gopuff FAM (covers your membership for free delivery and discounted groceries, starts 3/1)
  • $300/year at Bilt Dining partners ($25/month at select restaurants via Mobile Dining Checkout – rolling out to thousands of restaurants this year)
  • $600/year for dining experiences ($50/month for exclusive Bilt dining experiences, starts 3/1)

TRAVEL:

  • Up to $1,200/year in hotel credits through Bilt Travel Portal (2-night minimum; $50/month for Blue & Silver, $100/month for Gold & Platinum)
  • $120/year in Lyft credits ($10/month toward rides)
  • Up to $150/year for Blacklane (varies by status: $50 for Blue/Silver, $100 for Gold, $150 for Platinum)
  • Up to $700/year for BLADE flights ($350 per booking, up to 2 bookings/year, starts 3/1)
  • Unlock transfer bonus upgrades (e.g., Gold members can upgrade from 75% to 100% transfer bonus for $75 Bilt Cash)
  • Unlock “Home Away from Home” benefits (Blue & Silver members can pay $95 Bilt Cash to get luxury hotel perks like upgrades, ~$100 hotel credits, early check-in, etc. – starts 3/1)

CARDHOLDER-EXCLUSIVE BONUS POINTS (only if you set earning to 4% Bilt Cash):

  • Point accelerators for Obsidian/Palladium: Pay $200 Bilt Cash to get +1X bonus points on the next $5,000 spend (up to 5 times/year)
    • Obsidian gets 4X dining/grocery, 3X travel, 2X everyday
    • Palladium gets 3X everyday
  • Unlock 1X points on rent/mortgage with no transaction fees (every $30 Bilt Cash = 1,000 points, up to 1X of your payment)

FITNESS & WELLNESS:

  • $480/year for fitness classes ($40/month for SoulCycle, Barry’s, and other group classes in the Bilt app)
  • $120/year at Walgreens ($10/month credit)

OTHER:

  • $600/year for comedy experiences ($50/month for exclusive Bilt comedy shows, starts 3/1)
  • $120/year for Bilt Collection ($10/month toward Bilt Design Collection purchases)
  • $60/year for parking ($5/month at participating Bilt Neighborhood locations, starts 3/1)
  • Up to $768/year Priority Pass guest credits (Palladium-only: cover up to 2 guests/month at $32 each)

The Bottom Line:

Bilt is trying to position itself as more than just a rent rewards program, it’s becoming a “membership that rewards you across your home and neighborhood.” The Bilt Cash system lets them deliver actual dollar-for-dollar value through their partner network instead of the typical points devaluation game.

If you’re maximizing this, you could realistically use several thousand dollars in credits.

If you’re not, it may not be worth the headache.

The real test will be how user-friendly these redemptions are in the actual Bilt app. With over a dozen different credit types, monthly caps, and staggered launch dates, this could either be incredibly valuable or a complete hassle to manage. Hoping the Bilt team nails the UX here.

Either way, we will find out on February 7th when the new cards launch.
