That’s a solid return on a pretty low spending requirement. But here’s what most people don’t realize: that $250 doesn’t have to stay as $250. With the right setup, you can turn it into 25,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points and unlock access to airline and hotel transfer partners that make those points worth significantly more.
The Chase Freedom Unlimited Doesn’t Have Transfer Partners
If you only have the Chase Freedom Unlimited, your points are worth one cent each. That means 25,000 points equals $250 as a statement credit, direct deposit, or gift card. It’s fine, but it’s not exciting.

That’s over a dozen airline and hotel programs you can move points into, usually at a 1:1 ratio.
How to Actually Move the Points
The process takes about 30 seconds. Log into your Chase account, go to the Ultimate Rewards portal, and select the Freedom Unlimited. You’ll see an option to combine points with your other eligible card. Choose the Sapphire or Ink card, enter the amount, and the transfer is instant.
From there, you can transfer out to any of Chase’s airline or hotel partners directly from the Sapphire or Ink card’s rewards portal.
