Delta is launching a new route, and for once, SkyMiles collectors might actually feel… appreciated? Starting June 6, 2026, Delta will launch a new nonstop flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Hong Kong (HKG), and the award pricing in Delta One is so un-Delta that I had to triple-check it.

The Quick Facts

Route: Los Angeles (LAX) → Hong Kong (HKG)
Launch Date: June 6, 2026
Frequency: Daily
Aircraft: Airbus A350-900
Cabins: Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort+, Main Cabin

This new route expands Delta’s presence at LAX and gives West Coast travelers even more access to Asia without routing through Seoul, Tokyo, or the usual stopover suspects.

But the real headline are the award prices.

While this is still, by no means, the cheapest way to get to Asia from the West Coast, it’s the best option for this exact route. And given the wide-open availability, it’s also now the easiest.

Delta One for 110K SkyMiles

If you follow Delta’s award pricing (or have ever tried to book Delta One to Asia without selling a kidney), you know that 110,000 miles each way is almost… generous. Especially for an ultra-long-haul to Hong Kong.

And yes, I said Delta and generous in the same sentence. We’re in uncharted territory.

This is the same airline that regularly charges 375,000+ SkyMiles for LAX–NRT on a random Tuesday in October.

To give credit where it’s due, this LAX–HKG price point isn’t a total anomaly. Delta has a few other Asia routes currently sitting in the same “shockingly reasonable for SkyMiles” band:

  • Seattle (SEA) / Vancouver (YVR) → Taipei (TPE) for around 110K in Delta One
  • Salt Lake City (SLC) / Seattle (SEA) → Seoul (ICN) for around 120K-130K in Delta One

So yes — it’s not the first time we’ve seen Delta do this, but the fact that they’re adding another transpacific route at this level is a trend. And a very welcome one.

If Delta continues expanding Asia service at these prices, the SkyMiles program becomes a whole lot more compelling.

But it actually gets better.

“TakeOff 15” Drops It to 93,500 Miles

If you hold any Delta credit card that qualifies for the TakeOff 15 benefit, your price drops to 93,500 SkyMiles!

A sub-100K Delta One redemption to Asia with almost-nonexistent fees and wide-open availability?

Delta, are you okay?

Whatever the reason, I’m not complaining. And neither should you.
