United and FoundersCard have teamed up to offer four months of complimentary United Premier Silver status, with a relatively easy path to extend that status through January 2027.
If you don’t already have a FoundersCard membership, you can preview it for FREE for 12 months using our Cloud9 referral link.
Here’s how it works and who this is actually good for.
How the United × FoundersCard Promotion Works
FoundersCard members can earn four months of United Premier Silver status by registering for the promotion and completing one eligible flight before May 31, 2026.
After those four months, you can extend your Premier Silver status through January 2027 by meeting one of the following reduced thresholds:
• 1,600 Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) + 5 Premier Qualifying Flights (PQF)
or
• 1,800 PQP
That’s a big reduction compared to United’s normal Premier Silver requirements, which usually require 5,000 PQP + 15 PQF or 6,000 PQP.

The key rule: you must register for the promotion before booking your flight.
What Premier Silver Gets You
Premier Silver is United’s entry-level elite status, but it still comes with tangible benefits that can meaningfully improve your travel experience:
• Complimentary Economy Plus seating at check-in (when available)
• Complimentary Premier Upgrades (processed starting day of departure)
• One free checked bag (up to 70 lbs)
• 7x MileagePlus miles per dollar spent on United flights
If you fly United even a handful of times per year, the baggage savings and better seating alone can justify the effort.
Is FoundersCard Worth It?
This promotion is just one of many FoundersCard perks, but it’s a strong one.
FoundersCard memberships normally cost $595 per year, but right now you can preview it free for 12 months using this link. After the trial, you’ll have the option to upgrade for just $395 for your first year, making it well worth testing to see if it’s a good fit for you.
Other FoundersCard benefits include:
Airline discounts and status opportunities
Hotel elite status
Fast track status promotions with other airlines and hotel chains
Car rental discounts
Business perks with companies like Google Workspace and UPS
Lifestyle discounts with brands like Apple, SoulCycle, and Peet’s Coffee
Bottom Line
If you can squeeze in one qualifying flight before May 31, 2026, this promotion offers a surprisingly easy way to sample United elite status, and potentially keep it through early 2027 with far less flying than usual.
Just remember to register before booking, and make sure your flight is eligible.
For anyone who already holds FoundersCard, or has been considering it, this United promotion is one of the better status shortcuts we’ve seen recently.
