The Hyatt Aeroplan partnership just got its first real promotion, and it is the rare kind where you give up nothing.

Register by November 11, 2026, and every eligible dollar you spend at a Hyatt hotel through February 14, 2027 earns 1.5 Aeroplan points on top of the World of Hyatt points you were already going to collect.

Hyatt and Air Canada launched the offer on October 14 alongside an Aeroplan elite status challenge for Explorist and Globalist members, so there are two things to act on here. This post covers both, with the math on what the double dip is actually worth.

What the Hyatt Aeroplan Dual Accrual Offer Gives You

World of Hyatt members who have linked their Aeroplan account and registered for the promotion earn 1.5 bonus Aeroplan points per eligible U.S. dollar spent on an Eligible Rate at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide. That comes in addition to the standard World of Hyatt base points, which are 5 per dollar at most brands and 2.5 per dollar at Hyatt Studios, plus whatever elite bonus you earn on top.

Registration runs from October 14 through November 11, 2026. Stays must be completed after you register and no later than February 14, 2027, so a stay that straddles the deadline does not count. There is no cap listed in the terms, and the offer applies to stays in Canada, the U.S., and everywhere else Hyatt operates.

Until now, the only way to earn in both programs on a single Hyatt stay was to hold a Canadian-issued Aeroplan credit card. Everyone else had to choose between Hyatt points or a flat 500 Aeroplan points per stay in lieu of them. This promotion opens the double dip to every linked member for four months. You can register on the World of Hyatt offer page.

Linking is free and takes about a minute from the Hyatt side of the partnership page. You will need both your World of Hyatt number and your Aeroplan number, and you can create an Aeroplan account on the spot if you do not have one. When the partnership launched in July, linking also unlocked a $20 CAD Air Canada credit, so check whether that is still showing for new links before you connect.

Once linked, go to the offer page and hit Register. The bonus is not automatic, and the terms are explicit that only stays completed after registration qualify. If you have a Hyatt stay checking out this week, register before you check out, not after. Also confirm that your earning preference in your World of Hyatt profile is set to Hyatt points or to Aeroplan in lieu of Hyatt points. If you have it set to earn United, American, or any other partner’s miles instead of Hyatt points, the Aeroplan bonus will not post.

$995 Elite Access, Yours for $299

Start with 12 months of FoundersCard free, then upgrade to Elite for $299 rather than the usual $995.

FoundersCard is a membership, not a credit card. There is no credit pull and nothing new to carry in your wallet. What it unlocks is negotiated pricing, priority treatment, and experiences that never reach the general public, across travel, lifestyle, and business brands.

Exclusive Access

Upgrade to Elite within your first week of membership to lock in the $299 per year rate. Free trial applies to new FoundersCard members. All terms are set by FoundersCard and subject to change.

The Aeroplan Status Challenge for Explorists and Globalists

The same day, Air Canada opened an Aeroplan elite status challenge for upper-tier Hyatt members. You must already hold Explorist or Globalist when you register, your accounts must be linked, and you can only register once per calendar year. From there you earn Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) on Air Canada flights at a steep discount to the normal requirement.

35K12,00035,000GlobalistSilver
50K17,00050,000GlobalistGold
75K25,00075,000GlobalistGold
Must hold the Hyatt tier at registration with linked accounts. One challenge registration per calendar year. Economy Basic, Aeroplan award flights, and Points + Cash do not earn SQC toward the challenge. Members already holding equal or higher Aeroplan status valid into next year are not eligible for that tier.

Explorists are limited to the 25K tier. Globalists can chase any tier up to 75K. The standout is Aeroplan 50K, which carries Star Alliance Gold and therefore lounge access and priority handling on United, Lufthansa, ANA, Singapore, and the rest of the alliance. Normally 50K status takes 50,000 SQC. Through the challenge it takes 17,000.

Economy Basic fares, Aeroplan award flights, and Points + Cash bookings do not earn SQC toward the challenge, so this is for people with paid Air Canada or Star Alliance flying on the calendar. If you already hold equal or higher Aeroplan status that is valid into next year, you are not eligible for that tier.

The Fine Print

Only the room the member occupies counts, so booking two rooms under your name earns the bonus on one. Your World of Hyatt number has to be on the reservation at booking or added at the property before checkout. The bonus Aeroplan points can take up to eight weeks to post after the stay, which puts a mid-February checkout into early April before you see them.

Eligible Rate follows the standard World of Hyatt definition, which means award nights, most third-party bookings, and rates at brands excluded from the program do not earn. If you are booking through a travel agency program or a corporate rate, confirm it earns Hyatt points before assuming it earns the Aeroplan bonus too.

One question the terms do not answer clearly is whether Canadian Aeroplan cardholders, who already earn up to 2 Hyatt Bonus Points and 2.5 Aeroplan points per Canadian dollar at Hyatt, can stack the 1.5X promotion on top of their card earning. I would register and find out rather than assume either way.

Who Should Skip This

If you have no paid Hyatt stays between now and mid-February, registering costs nothing but also earns nothing. If your Hyatt earning preference is set to another airline and you have a reason to keep it there, such as topping off a United award, the Aeroplan bonus will not post and you should not flip the setting just for this. Award stays earn nothing, so if your winter Hyatt nights are already on points, this does not apply to you.

The status challenge is a skip unless you have real paid Air Canada or Star Alliance flying coming up. Buying tickets you would not otherwise buy to reach 17,000 SQC is a worse trade than the lounge access is worth.
