Virgin Atlantic just introduced a new perk called High Five – and while the name sounds playful, it’s actually one of the easiest long-term bonuses you can earn with any airline loyalty program.

If you fly Virgin Atlantic at least once per year for five different years, you’ll unlock:

  • 12,000 bonus Virgin points
  • 10% more points on every future Virgin Atlantic flight you take for the rest of your Flying Club membership

And here’s the surprising part:
You don’t need elite status.
You don’t need to fly in a premium cabin.
You don’t even need to fly five times in the same calendar year.

This is one of the most accessible “loyalty rewards” Virgin has ever launched.

What Is the Virgin Atlantic High Five Program?

High Five is a new milestone reward that gives members bonuses for being consistently engaged with the Flying Club program over time – even if they aren’t frequent flyers.

To qualify, you simply need to:

✔ Take one Virgin Atlantic–operated flight in five separate calendar years

These do not need to be consecutive years, and they’re counting back to 2021! Meaning if you’ve already completed a few flights with them since, they will be counted!

Each year you complete a flight, Virgin adds a “stamp” to your Flying Club record.
Once you collect five stamps, you unlock:

  • 12,000 Virgin points (one-time bonus)
  • 10% bonus points on every future Virgin Atlantic flight

This is similar to the “milestone” systems offered by airlines like Emirates or Qantas – but Virgin’s version is dramatically easier because it doesn’t require elite tiers or large amounts of annual spend.

Why This Matters to Points Nerds (Especially Cloud9Club Members)

Most loyalty perks reward people who fly dozens of times a year.
High Five is the exact opposite.

1. It rewards long-term relationship, not high spend

Even if you take a single economy flight from the U.S. to London once per year, you’ll qualify.

2. Huge value if you redeem Virgin points for ANA, Delta, or Air France–KLM

Virgin points are famous for:

  • ANA First Class from the U.S. to Japan (one of the best sweet spots ever – though incredibly hard to find)
  • Delta One to Europe (when availability appears)
  • Transatlantic flights on Virgin itself, often with great cash/points ratios

Virgin adding ways to earn more points (even slowly) is a rising tide for all partner-booking fans.

3. It’s easy stacking for casual travelers

Even if you never fly Virgin itself often, this bonus is basically free as long as you plan one trip with them per year.

Does the Class of Service Matter?

Nope.

You can qualify with:

  • Economy Light
  • Economy Classic
  • Premium
  • Upper Class
  • Revenue or points bookings

The only requirement is that it’s a Virgin Atlantic–operated flight, not just a partner ticket with a Virgin flight number.

How to Check Your “High Five” Progress

Virgin hasn’t introduced dedicated tracking in the app yet, but here’s what we know:

  • Each completed year adds a “stamp” to your Flying Club account in the back end.
  • You will receive confirmation via email when you earn a new year.
  • Once you reach five stamps, Virgin automatically deposits your 12,000 points and upgrades your future earning rate.

Is 12,000 Points a Big Deal?

It depends on how you redeem Virgin points — but the value ranges:

Considering their East Coast to London flights begin at just 6,000 points, this could easily become a “free” round-trip (if you don’t count Virgin’s notoriously high taxes and fees)
