Bilt is immediately reminding me why I love them so much after the messy launch of the new cards.
They just announced a massive 125% transfer bonus to JAL that will only be available this coming Rent Day (March 1) — and if you’ve got Bilt points sitting around, this could be your ticket to JAL’s legendary first class.
Here’s the math that made me fall off my chair: JAL first class from the US to Tokyo normally costs 110,000 miles one-way., already an insane deal. With this 125% bonus, you’d only need 48,889 Bilt points to book that same seat. That flight would cost you $16,000+ in cash. That’s what I call making points work for you.

Bilt has by far one of the best rewards programs in the US, and you can start earning Bilt points and take advantage of their monthly Rent Day offers even without having their credit card. If you want to learn more, I covered how to earn free Bilt points without their credit card.
The Transfer Details
The bonus amount will depend on your Bilt status. Here’s the breakdown:
- Blue: 25% bonus (1:1.25)
- Silver: 50% bonus (1:1.5)
- Gold: 75% bonus (1:1.75)
- Platinum: 100% bonus (1:2)
Bilt Cash Upgrade: Members can use Bilt Cash to temporarily upgrade their status for $135 and access a higher tier promotion. Platinum Members will have an upgrade offer of 125% (1:2.25).
Note: Members can only access one tier up (i.e., Blue → Silver)
IMPORTANT: If your JAL Mileage Bank account is less than 60 days old, there will be up to a 7 day hold before you can use JAL Miles to book travel.
Why JAL Miles Are Worth Stockpiling
JAL Mileage Bank consistently offers some of the best business and first class availability to Asia. Their first class product is genuinely world-class — private suites, Michelin-starred dining, and service that makes the 13-hour flight feel like a luxury hotel experience.
Sweet Spot Redemptions With The Bonus

The Catch
JAL miles expire after 36 months from the date of earning. So if you’re not planning to use these immediately, set a calendar reminder.
Also worth noting: JAL has been tightening award availability on their most popular routes. If you’re eyeing cherry blossom season (March-May) or fall foliage (October-November), book as soon as availability is released (360 days out).
Transfer Now Or Wait?
Transfer on March 1 if you have a specific redemption in mind or want to lock in this value. JAL transfer bonuses are rare — I’ve only seen a handful in the past few years, and never this generous.
Bottom Line
This is the best JAL transfer bonus I’ve seen in years, and it’s making me seriously consider booking another JAL first class trip to Japan. I already currently have a round-trip in first class booked for October, though I paid the full 110k miles per leg for that. The 125% bonus effectively cuts the cost of premium cabin awards in half, and JAL’s product quality justifies the splurge.
If you’ve been hoarding Bilt points and have Asia on your travel list, this bonus makes JAL miles incredibly compelling.
