CLEAR Concierge just got significantly more interesting with the addition of a brand-new arrival service that meets you at your gate the moment you land. While everyone’s still debating whether CLEAR Plus is worth $209 a year, CLEAR quietly rolled out the other half of the airport experience — someone waiting for you at the jet bridge, handling your bags, and walking you straight through to ground transportation. Pair that with the existing departure service, and you’ve got white-glove treatment from the moment you arrive at the curb to the moment you’re in a car heading home. And here’s the part that should make you pay attention: FoundersCard members get both services free, ongoing, unlimited. Not a one-time perk. Unlimited.

I’ve been deep in the CLEAR ecosystem for years, and this update changes the math considerably. Before, the value lived almost entirely in the departure experience. Now, with the arrival service added — and the FoundersCard partnership covering both at no cost — this becomes one of the most lopsided travel perks in the points and miles ecosystem. Let’s break down what each service includes, what it costs, and whether the math actually works in your favor.

By the way, if you don’t have FoundersCard yet, you can currently get a 12-month free trial to preview the membership and benefits here.

What Is CLEAR Concierge?

CLEAR Concierge is a premium, white-glove airport assistance service from CLEAR (the same company behind CLEAR Plus). It pairs you with a dedicated CLEAR Ambassador who personally escorts you through the airport — handling check-in, bag drop, security, and the walk to your gate on the way out, or meeting you at the jet bridge and walking you to ground transportation on the way in. Think of it as the airport equivalent of a hotel concierge, except instead of restaurant reservations, they’re getting you to (or from) your flight without breaking a sweat.

This is a completely separate product from CLEAR Plus. CLEAR Plus is the biometric security membership most travelers already know — you scan your eyes at a Pod and skip the ID-check line. CLEAR Concierge goes way beyond that. You’re getting an actual person assigned to your travel day.

The service now comes in two flavors: Departure Service and Arrival Service. You can book them independently or together for a full round-trip experience.

CLEAR Departure Service vs Arrival Service: What’s the Difference?

This is the part you need to pay attention to, because the two services do completely different things and cover different group sizes.

CLEAR Departure Service is what most people think of when they hear “airport concierge.” Your Ambassador meets you at the curb when you arrive, helps your group with bags and check-in, and brings you straight through security and to your gate or lounge. It covers up to 5 travelers per booking.

CLEAR Arrival Service is the new addition, and frankly it might be the more valuable of the two. Your Ambassador meets you at your arrival gate the moment you step off the plane, helps your group with carry-on and checked luggage, and guides you from your gate to ground transportation. It covers up to 8 travelers per booking — notably more than the departure service.

The arrival service solves a problem nobody really had a clean answer to before. Departure is stressful, but you can plan around it. Arrival is unpredictable — you’re tired, you’re in an unfamiliar terminal, the baggage claim is a chaos zone, and getting from the gate to a car can take 45 minutes at a major hub. Having someone meet you at the gate and handle the rest is the kind of perk you don’t realize you needed until you’ve used it once.

How Does CLEAR Concierge Work?

You book the service in advance through the CLEAR app or website, selecting your airport, date, terminal, and tier. On the day of your flight, your Ambassador meets you at a designated point in the airport (usually curbside or just inside the terminal) and takes over from there.

Depending on the tier you book, they’ll help with check-in, escort you through the CLEAR Lane and TSA screening, walk you to your gate, and assist with any complications along the way.

Each booking can cover up to four travelers including minors. Kids 17 and under join free as long as at least one adult in the group is a CLEAR Plus member. Adults aged 18 and over need to be CLEAR Plus members themselves to use the service.

CLEAR Concierge Express vs Gate Service: What’s the Difference?

This is where you need to pay attention, because the two tiers have very different price points and use cases.

CLEAR Concierge Express is the lighter-touch option. It includes an Ambassador who meets you at security, walks you through the CLEAR Lane, and helps you get through TSA screening. Think of it as security assistance with a personal escort.

CLEAR Concierge Gate Service is the full experience. It includes everything in Express, plus curbside meet-and-greet, assistance with check-in and bag drop, and a personal escort all the way to your gate. This is the version you book when you’re traveling with elderly parents, young kids, a wheelchair, an overnight red-eye after a brutal week, or just want the airport experience to be effortless.

How Much Does CLEAR Concierge Cost?

If you’re paying retail: $99 for Express, $179 for Gate Service, per booking, per airport visit. Round trip means two bookings. A family with two round-trip Gate Service bookings is looking at $358 for a single trip.

That’s a lot. But the catch is that almost nobody pays retail, because there is a way to get this service for free, whenever you want.

How to Get CLEAR Concierge for Free With FoundersCard

FoundersCard members now get complimentary CLEAR Concierge bookings on an ongoing, unlimited basis — and crucially, this covers both the Departure Service and the new Arrival Service.

You can book either, or both, for every single trip you take, for as long as you’re a member. There’s no annual cap, no per-trip limit, no “first three bookings free” asterisk. It’s genuinely unlimited.

On top of the free bookings, new CLEAR Plus members get $50 off their first year of membership through the FoundersCard partnership. The standard CLEAR Plus rate is $209 a year, so this drops your first year to $159, and the Concierge bookings layer on top. Worth noting: many premium credit cards already reimburse the full $209 cost of CLEAR Plus, so check what you’re already holding before paying out of pocket.

The fine print is straightforward: US airports only, bookings are subject to availability at participating airports, and any day-of-travel changes go through email. You’re not booking same-day. Plan ahead.

Is CLEAR Concierge Worth It? The Math

Let’s run the numbers a few different ways, because the answer depends entirely on how often you fly and who you’re flying with.

Scenario 1: You fly twice a year, solo, no FoundersCard. Two Gate Service bookings at $179 each is $358. Unless you have a specific reason to use it (mobility issues, tight connection, unfamiliar airport), you probably don’t need it. Skip.

Scenario 2: You fly four times a year as a couple, with FoundersCard. Four free Gate Service bookings at $179 each is $716 in value. FoundersCard pays for itself on this benefit alone, before you’ve touched a single other perk like the airline discounts or hotel status.

Scenario 3: You travel three times a year as a family of four, with FoundersCard. Six free Gate Service bookings is $1,074 in value, at a per-person effective cost of zero. The membership has now paid for itself almost three times over on this perk alone.

What Airports Have CLEAR Concierge?

CLEAR Concierge is currently available at 32 US airports, with more being added regularly. The list covers most major hubs, so unless you’re flying out of a smaller regional airport, you’re probably covered.

How to Book CLEAR Concierge

Booking is straightforward. Open the CLEAR app or visit the Concierge page on clearme.com, enter your flight details (airport, date, terminal, time), select your tier (Express or Gate Service), add any guests on your booking, and pay. If you have FoundersCard, you can access the booking page directly from your FoundersCard member hub. You’ll get a confirmation email, and your Ambassador will text you on the day of travel to coordinate the meet-up.

A few practical tips. Book at least 48 hours in advance to be safe, especially during peak travel windows. Confirm your terminal carefully, because Ambassadors are assigned by terminal and you don’t want to discover a terminal change at the curb. If your flight changes, communicate it through the email channel CLEAR specifies, not through the app.

Who Should Skip CLEAR Concierge

This service isn’t for everyone, and I’d rather you know that upfront than spend money you don’t need to spend.

Skip CLEAR Concierge if you fly out of a small airport where security takes 10 minutes anyway. Skip if you’re a confident solo traveler who knows airports inside out and doesn’t need handholding. Skip if you only fly once or twice a year and don’t have FoundersCard (the math doesn’t work).

Where it earns its keep is the in-between: families with young kids, anyone traveling with elderly parents, infrequent flyers who find airports stressful, travelers connecting through unfamiliar hubs, and people for whom airport time is genuinely expensive (executives, performers, anyone whose hourly value is high). And once it’s free through FoundersCard, the calculus changes for almost everyone.

Bottom Line

CLEAR Concierge is the kind of travel perk that sounds excessive until you’ve actually used it, at which point it becomes very hard to go back. The retail pricing is steep at $99 to $179 per booking, but the FoundersCard partnership makes the service effectively free for members on an ongoing basis. Pair that with $50 off CLEAR Plus and the credit card statement credits that cover the full CLEAR Plus cost, and you’re looking at one of the rare scenarios where the math is genuinely lopsided in your favor.

If you’re flying with family, navigating airports as part of a busy work schedule, or just tired of the airport making you feel small, this is one of the best ways to upgrade your travel experience without upgrading your ticket.
