Marriott Titanium airline status is one of the most overlooked perks in hotel loyalty, because your Bonvoy tier is secretly holding elite status with three airlines for you. If you are Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite, you can claim United Premier Silver, Air Canada Aeroplan 25K, and JAL Crystal without flying a single segment.

None of these is top-tier status, and I want to be upfront about that. All three are entry-level. But entry-level status across Star Alliance and oneworld, for the cost of a few online forms, is a very good return on hotel nights you were already going to stay.

What Marriott Titanium Airline Status Actually Includes

Titanium Elite requires 75 elite night credits in a calendar year, and Ambassador Elite sits one tier above it. Both tiers qualify for the same three airline statuses. Platinum, Gold, and Silver members do not get any of them outright.

Nothing here is automatic. Each airline has its own registration or account-linking step, and until you complete it, the status simply sits unclaimed. The table below sums up all three.

Airline Status Key Perks How to Claim
United Premier Silver (Star Alliance Silver) Economy Plus at check-in, upgrade eligibility, free checked bag, priority check-in and boarding Register at getrewardsplus.com
Air Canada Aeroplan 25K (Star Alliance Silver) Priority check-in and boarding, free checked bags, seat selection Link Bonvoy and Aeroplan accounts
JAL Crystal (oneworld Ruby) Business class check-in, preferred seats, priority standby across oneworld Link Bonvoy and JAL Mileage Bank accounts
Requires Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite. All three are entry-level tiers. Benefits and terms can change, so check each program before you fly.

United Premier Silver Through RewardsPlus

Link to Match

Titanium members and above get complimentary Premier Silver, but you have to register and be confirmed. You also need to enter your MileagePlus number when booking for the benefits to apply.

Premier Silver gets you one free checked bag, priority check-in, security, and Group 2 boarding, eligibility for complimentary upgrades, and access to Economy Plus or preferred seating. Economy Plus opens up at check-in at this tier, so set your expectations accordingly on full flights, and know that upgrades at Silver rarely clear.

Silver became more useful this year. The 2026 MileagePlus changes opened Polaris Saver award space to Premier Silver members, which matters far more than a boarding group if you book United business class with miles.

Once you are in, your registration renews automatically for the following year as long as you requalify for Titanium or higher.

Cloud9Club Members Only Offer

$995 Elite Access, Yours for $299

Start with 12 months of FoundersCard free, then upgrade to Elite for $299 rather than the usual $995.

FoundersCard is a membership, not a credit card. There is no credit pull and nothing new to carry in your wallet. What it unlocks is negotiated pricing, priority treatment, and experiences that never reach the general public, across travel, lifestyle, and business brands.

Exclusive Access

Upgrade to Elite within your first week of membership to lock in the $299 per year rate. Free trial applies to new FoundersCard members. All terms are set by FoundersCard and subject to change.

Aeroplan 25K With Air Canada

Link to Match

The Air Canada benefit launched in October 2024. Titanium and Ambassador members receive complimentary Aeroplan 25K status after linking their Marriott Bonvoy and Aeroplan accounts.

Aeroplan 25K is the entry tier, so keep expectations there. Main perks are priority check-in and boarding, seat selection, and two free checked bags on Air Canada.

JAL Crystal and oneworld Ruby

Link to Match

This is the newest of the three and the most interesting. Marriott and Japan Airlines announced their partnership on July 14, 2026, and it works differently from the other two. Instead of handing you a status, JAL credits FLY ON Points, its status currency, when you link your accounts, with no flying required.

Titanium members receive 30,000 FLY ON Points a year and Ambassador members receive 40,000, each with complimentary Crystal status or above. Crystal maps to oneworld Ruby, which is what makes this valuable outside Japan. Ruby benefits follow you across oneworld carriers, including American, Alaska, British Airways, and Qatar. Think business class check-in counters, preferred seats, and priority standby.

Can You Climb Higher Than Entry Tier?

With United and Air Canada, no. Silver and 25K are what you get, and anything higher has to be earned the usual way.

JAL is the exception, because the match is to Crystal or higher based on your accumulated FLY ON Points. The gifted points get a Titanium member to Crystal, and any FLY ON Points you earn from flying stack on top. That gives you a head start toward Sapphire, which is where oneworld lounge access begins.

Who Should Skip This

If you are Platinum Elite and thinking about pushing to Titanium purely for airline status, run the numbers first. The jump is 25 extra nights, and you are buying three entry-level tiers. A United or Air Canada co-branded card gets you checked bags and priority boarding for far less.

If you already hold mid-tier or higher status with United, Air Canada, or a oneworld airline, the matching tier adds nothing. And if you fly mostly Delta or Southwest, none of this touches your travel.

For everyone already sitting at Titanium or Ambassador, there is no reason to skip it. It takes a few minutes and costs nothing.

FAQ

Does Marriott Platinum Get Airline Status?

No. All three airline statuses require Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite. With JAL, lower Bonvoy tiers receive a smaller annual deposit of FLY ON Points but no automatic status.

Is Marriott Titanium Airline Status Automatic?

No. You have to register for RewardsPlus with United and link your accounts with Aeroplan and JAL Mileage Bank separately.

Does JAL Crystal Include Lounge Access?

No. Crystal is oneworld Ruby, which covers priority check-in, preferred seating, and priority standby. Lounge access starts at oneworld Sapphire.
