Hilton Diamond status is one of the most useful hotel elite tiers for travelers, and on October 1 you can get it without staying a single night. On Bilt Rent Day, Bilt Platinum members who transfer at least 1,000 Bilt points to Hilton Honors get instant Diamond through December 31, 2026, along with a 175% transfer bonus. Lower Bilt tiers get Hilton Silver or Gold plus a shortcut to Diamond.

Below I’ll walk through how the October 1 offer works, every other way to earn Diamond, and what the status got me on one 10-night stay at the Waldorf Astoria Osaka.

What Hilton Diamond Status Gets You

Diamond was Hilton’s top tier until Diamond Reserve launched in 2026. It’s still the tier where you start getting real value. Diamond members get space-available room upgrades (confirmed early), executive lounge access, a 100% points bonus on stays, and a 48-hour room guarantee.

Breakfast is where most people get their money back. At U.S. hotels, Hilton swapped free breakfast for a daily food and beverage credit, paid per person for up to two guests in the room. That’s $25 per person per day at Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and LXR, $15 per person at most full-service brands ($18 in high-cost cities), and $10 per person at Hilton Garden Inn. The credit doesn’t roll over, so use it every day. Outside the U.S., Gold and Diamond members generally still get a complimentary continental breakfast, and many properties serve the full buffet.

How to Get Hilton Diamond Status on October 1 With Bilt Rent Day

October’s Rent Day pairs a large Hilton transfer bonus with instant Hilton status. The bonus and status depend on your Bilt tier. Blue members get a 75% bonus and Hilton Silver. Silver members get 100% and Hilton Silver. Gold members get 150% and Hilton Gold. Platinum members get 175% and Hilton Diamond, and Platinum members can spend $200 in Bilt Cash to raise the bonus to 200%.

The bonus applies to the first 100,000 Bilt points you transfer. The minimum transfer is 1,000 points for Silver, Gold and Platinum members and 2,000 for Blue. So a Platinum member who moves just 1,000 Bilt points gets 2,750 Hilton points and Diamond status. That’s the whole cost of entry.

There’s a catch: the status only runs through December 31, 2026, so on its own it’s about three months of Diamond. To keep it, you complete a challenge by the end of 2026. Platinum members keep Diamond after 12 qualifying nights in 90 days. Bilt Gold members earn Diamond after 12 qualifying nights in 90 days. Blue and Silver members earn Gold after 6 qualifying nights in 90 days.

Why It’s a No-Brainer for Travelers

If you’re Bilt Platinum, a 1,000-point transfer is a tiny commitment, and you’ll probably use those Hilton points anyway. If you have even one Hilton stay between October and December, a single upgrade or two days of breakfast for two will likely cover it. If you already have a Hilton trip planned, you’ll get Diamond benefits on that stay.

Whether a bigger transfer makes sense is a separate question. Hilton points are usually valued at around half a cent each (that’s a common third-party estimate, not an official figure), so the 175% and 200% bonuses only make sense if you have a Hilton redemption in mind. At the cap, the $200 Bilt Cash buy-up gets you 25,000 extra Hilton points, which works out to 0.8 cents per point. That’s more than most Hilton redemptions are worth, so buy up only if you’re already planning to transfer the full 100,000 and have a specific booking in mind.

The Value I Got From Diamond at the Waldorf Astoria Osaka

Last year I spent 10 nights at the Waldorf Astoria Osaka as a Diamond member, and it made the case for the status better than any chart could. Breakfast for two was included every morning. We also had a $30 hotel credit each day, which we used to try different drinks at Peacock Alley, the hotel’s bar overlooking the city. It became our evening ritual.

The biggest single benefit was the room upgrade, which was worth about $200 per night. Breakfast at the hotel’s Jolie Brasserie cost ¥5,500 per person, so breakfast for two came to about ¥11,000 (roughly $73) a day. Over 10 nights, that adds up to about $2,000 in upgrade value, $730 in breakfast and $300 in hotel credits, for a total of roughly $3,000. Your results will depend on the hotel, dates and occupancy. But at a luxury property on a longer stay, Diamond pays off quickly.

Other Ways to Get Hilton Diamond Status

Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card. Aspire cardmembers get Diamond just for holding the card, with no spending or stays required. The card has a $550 annual fee, so it makes sense for people who will also use its other benefits, like the annual free night certificate, which itself can yield over $1k in value annually. You can apply through my Hilton Aspire referral link.

Hilton Surpass and Hilton Business cards. Both cards come with Gold status and upgrade you to Diamond after $40,000 in spending in a calendar year. That’s a lot of spending, so this route works best for business owners with large expenses. You can apply for Surpass through my Surpass referral link.

Stay your way there. Hilton lowered its requirements for 2026. Diamond now takes 50 nights, 25 stays, or $11,500 in eligible spending in a calendar year. Stays booked with points or cash both count as long as you book through Hilton directly.

Hilton’s status match challenge. If you have elite status with another hotel program and don’t already have Hilton Gold or Diamond, Hilton’s challenge gives you Diamond after 12 nights in 90 days, valid through March 31, 2028. You’ll need to upload proof of your current status and a recent stay.

Diamond extension for long-time loyalists. Members with at least three years of Diamond status and either 250 lifetime elite nights or 500,000 lifetime base points can extend their Diamond status for another year.

Who Should Skip This

If you rarely stay at Hilton properties, three months of Diamond won’t do much for you, and you shouldn’t move large numbers of Bilt points just to chase a bonus. Bilt points are usually worth more with airline partners, so keep your balance flexible unless you already have a Hilton redemption planned. If you can’t realistically fit 12 nights into a 90-day window before year end, treat October 1 as a short-term perk, not a path to keeping Diamond. And if you already hold the Aspire card, you don’t need this offer to get status. The transfer bonus is the only part that matters to you.

Fine Print

Everything here is an example of what’s possible when the timing works out, not a guarantee. Elite benefits vary by brand, region and property. Upgrades are subject to availability, and breakfast and credit policies differ between U.S. and international hotels. Bilt’s official terms for October Rent Day control the transfer bonus, status and challenge, so read them before you transfer. Your mileage may vary.
