Marriott Eat Around Town is paying 8X points per dollar on dine-in and takeout meals from October 1 through October 31, 2026, at more than 20,000 participating U.S. restaurants. That is double the usual rate for regular Marriott Bonvoy members, and it comes on top of whatever your credit card already earns at restaurants.

How Marriott Eat Around Town Works

Eat Around Town is Marriott Bonvoy’s free card-linked dining program. You sign in with your Bonvoy number, link a credit or debit card, and pay with that card at a participating restaurant. There is nothing to show your server and no code to enter. The points are tracked through the card and land in your Bonvoy account afterward.

Outside of promotions, members earn 4 points per dollar and Bonvoy elites (Silver and up) earn 6 points per dollar. Marriott counts tax and tip toward the total, which quietly adds 25% or more to what you earn on a typical check.

What the 8X October Offer Is Worth

For October, everyone enrolled earns 8X regardless of status. A $100 dinner earns 800 Bonvoy points instead of 400 for a regular member or 600 for an elite.

At a conservative 0.7 cents per Marriott point, 8X works out to about 5.6% back on dining. That is a solid return for something that takes zero extra effort once your card is linked, though it is not a reason to change where you eat. Treat it as a bonus on meals you were already going to have.

Values assume 0.7 cents per Marriott Bonvoy point. Offer runs October 1 to 31, 2026. Credit card rewards are earned separately.

How to Stack It With Your Credit Card

Because the program tracks the transaction instead of replacing it, your card’s own rewards still post as usual. Link the card that earns the most on dining and you collect both. As an illustration, a card earning 4X at restaurants paired with this offer would return 4 card points plus 8 Bonvoy points per dollar on the same check. Your results depend on which card you link and how the restaurant codes.

One thing to know before you link: dining programs from the airlines and other hotels generally run on the same network, and a single card can only be linked to one of them at a time. If your best dining card is already tied to another program, you will need to pick one or link a different card here.

The 6,000 Point New Member Bonus

If you have never enrolled in Eat Around Town, Marriott is offering 6,000 bonus points when you complete three dines in your first 60 days. Those points are worth roughly $42 at 0.7 cents each, and during October each of those meals also earns 8X.

Read the bonus terms on the enrollment page before your first meal. In past years, bonus points have required completing an online review within 30 days of each visit and staying opted in to Eat Around Town emails. Skipping the review is the most common way people miss the bonus.

The Fine Print

Only participating restaurants count, so search your location on the Eat Around Town site before you go. Takeout qualifies when you order directly from the restaurant, and orders placed through third-party delivery apps have been excluded in past versions of this offer. Points earned through dining do not count toward Marriott elite status, and they can take six to eight weeks to appear in your account.

Who Should Skip This

If your best dining card is already linked to another dining program that you value more, such as one that earns airline miles you actually use, switching for one month may not be worth the hassle. The same goes if you do not collect Marriott points or have no plan for them. And if none of the participating restaurants near you are places you would eat anyway, there is nothing to gain by going out of your way for 5.6% back.

For everyone else, this takes about five minutes to set up and runs in the background all month.

How It Compares to Rakuten, Bilt, and Rove Dining

Marriott’s 8X looks like the biggest number, but the dining programs that pay in flexible points usually come out ahead. Rakuten Dining earns 5% back at participating restaurants, tax and tip included, and you can take that as 5X American Express Membership Rewards points or as Bilt Points (Bilt Blue members convert at half the rate, so this works best with Silver status or higher). Bilt Dining earns 1X to 3X Bilt Points depending on the restaurant, and it excludes the tip. Rove Dining, which launched with the Rove app in August, earns roughly 3X to 12X Rove Miles depending on the restaurant, though it is live at only about 2,000 restaurants in 20 cities so far.

Here is why flexible points win. At 0.7 cents per point, 8X Marriott is about 5.6% back, and those points can only be used with Marriott. Five Membership Rewards points per dollar from Rakuten are worth about 7.5% at a modest 1.5 cents each, and they can go to more than a dozen airline and hotel partners. A Rove restaurant at 6X or higher beats both on the same math. Once the Marriott offer drops back to 4X or 6X in November, the gap gets wider. Since a card can generally be linked to only one dining program at a time, my approach is to put my best dining card on a flexible points program year-round and use a second card for Marriott during months like this one. Your value depends on how you redeem, so run the numbers with your own valuations.
